Welcome to Wai Nui O Kanaka!

Wai Nui O Kanaka

The lake is amazing.

Every week it gives us different conditions to deal with and thatā€™s the fun of paddling ā€“ learning to work with what mother nature provides. It can be as calm and smooth as glass but other days it whips up quite a ride.

Paddling can feed your competitive edge, be your meditation, be your way to relax and/or your optimal workout.

Come experience the ohana at Wai Nui O Kanaka!

What We Paddle

We paddle on the river and lake in downtown Oakville with programs for a variety of member groups from youth through to our more senior Kapuna members. We have a variety of boats from single ocean canoes and surfskis to OC12s. Our programs run from recreational, through fitness to competitive objectives.

Ice Breaker

Friday April 4, 2025 7ā€“9 PM

It's that time of year when the snow and ice have melted and we start to look forward to the good times we will have again paddling with friends on Sixteen Mile Creek and Lake Ontario. Everyone who paddled with Wai Nui last season, and any friends you have who may want to join Wai Nui, are invited to our annual Ice Breaker on Friday April 4.

Commodore Wendy, Head Coach Sheila and Kupuna Coach Kathy will share their plans for Wai Nui's paddling programs this season. You will hear all about the exciting programs you can look forward to signing up for as well as from the experienced coaches who will share their expertise with you.
